Experience this one-of-a-kind LIVE JAZZ concert series as you cruise down the Hudson River taking in fantastic views of the Statue of Liberty and the breathtaking Manhattan skyline. This summer will feature ten of the world’s greatest jazz acts in an intimate setting, every Wednesday evening starting June 30th ending September 1st. Najee is one of the first innovators of Urban Contemporary Jazz/Smooth Jazz, which grew in popularity throughout the 1990’s to this day. His first 4 albums were certified Gold and he was nominated for a Grammy in 1988 for “Najee’s Theme”.

Throughout his career Najee has had the opportunity to have worked with many great artists such as…. Quincy Jones, Will Downing,Patti La Belle, George Duke, Al Jarreau, Marcus Miller,Joe Sample, Lalah Hathaway, Jeff Lorber, Wayman Tisdale, Dave Koz,Lionel Richie, Gerald Veasley,Jonathan Butler, MAYSA, Ledisi, and was apart of the Prince “Hit and Run Tour”.

Najee is the recipient of many music awards including the Soul Train Music Award for Best Jazz Artist, NAACP Image Award, & Trumpet Awards.

As his name is defined, his music can only be attributed as “Close to the Creator”. Mind Over Matter, Najee’s most recent recording was released on August 25, 2009, on Heads Up soul, contemporary jazz or an intriguing blend of all these styles International, a division of Concord Music Group. In addition to Najee’s fine balance of songcraft and musicianship, the album also includes songwriting and guest appearances by keyboardist Jeff Lorber and vocalists Eric Benét and Gary Taylor.
