About the Acts…
CARBON LEAF:
Carbon Leaf is a five-piece indie rock band known for their Alt-Country, Celtic and Folk-infused Indie Rock. The band got their start at Randolph-Macon College in Virginia in 1992 practicing in a campus auditorium. Their next step was playing backyard parties, mixers, fraternity, and sorority parties. Shortly after everyone graduated they moved to Richmond, VA. They played the college circuit in Virginia and up the East Coast before moving on to clubs. They have played with many acts, including Dave Matthews Band, Something Corporate, O.A.R., and David Gray, and have toured with Jason Mraz, Blues Traveler, Great Big Sea, Jump, Little Children, Matt Nathanson, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, The Avett Brothers, Guster and Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers.
In January 2006, the group was one of the bands to join Sister Hazel’s floating Music festival The Rock Boat. They have also performed on The Rock Boat 2007, Ships & Dip hosted by The Barenaked Ladies in 2008, The Rock Boat in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013. In 2010 they amicably parted from their record label to return to Indie status.
GAELIC STORM:
Gaelic Storm is a Celtic band. Their musical output includes pieces from traditional Irish music, Scottish music, and original tunes in both the Celtic and Celtic rock genres. The band’s origins can be traced back to 1996, when Patrick Murphy and Steve Wehmeyer joined with Steve Twigger and Uillean piper Brian Walsh to perform at O’Brien’s Irish Pub and Restaurant in Santa Monica, CA (where Murphy was the manager.) This led to a number of pub performances for the next year. In 1997, they appeared in the film Titanic as the steerage band, performing “An Irish Party in Third Class”. This appearance catapulted them into the touring scene; their performances were met with critical praise and popularity. They have toured throughout the United States and Canada, in the United Kingdom, France and Japan. Their most recent album, “The Boathouse,” was released August 2013.
