Organ, Thursday January 25

A wizard of the Hammond organ, Brooklyn native Judd Nielsen and his backing band pay homage to the instrument’s iconic place in jazz history, while updating its classic sound with a propulsive funk influence. Having performed with greats like Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Trombone Shorty, and Melvin Sparks, Nielsen steps into the spotlight with the recent release of his debut album Blossom Showers which showcases his ability to tell a vivid story through music.

MOSES PATROU
Drums, Friday January 26

Moses Patrou is a gifted vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who can be found switching effortlessly between drums, keys, vocals and percussion at a variety of shows – R&B, New Orleans Brass band, blues, jazz, rock and everything in between – in and around the NYC area on a regular basis with occasional jaunts to other parts of the world.

Patrou is also a prolific songwriter with two albums of delectable original material recorded thus far and an ever-growing arsenal of songs yet to be released. His first album, aptly titled “Introducing Moses Patrou”, was released on Grammy award winning producer Ben and Leo Sidran’s label “Nardis Records” in Japan in 2007, and later in the US. His sophomore effort, “Cant Stop, Vol. 1″, was co-produced with Scott Sharrard (Lead guitarist for the Gregg Allman Band) and Charles Martinez (Sound Engineer for Michael McDonald, Boz Skaggs and Donald Fagen of Steely Dan) and released in the fall of 2013.

BEN STIVERS
Organ, Friday January 26

Ben Stivers is a keyboard, piano and organ player based in Brooklyn, NY. Ben Stivers has a wide stylistic vocabulary from recording, touring and collaborating with artists across multiple genres including jazz, blues, rock, pop, latin pop, rap, dance and jazz fusion. As his resumé shows, Ben Stivers is recognized around the world as one of the premier keyboard players on the music scene today.

As a student at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, Stivers begun his international career with artists including Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Chayanne, Exposé, Jon Secada, Emilio Estefan, Dan Warner, Matchbox 20 and many others. A highlight of Ben’s Miami years was his collaboration of touring and recording with the Bee Gees and Barry Gibb.

Stivers is now a member of the Chris Botti Band. Recent tours include the Barry Gibb Mythology Tour, Gregg Allman Band, Robin McKelle and the Flytones, Rez Abbasi and others.

WILL BERNARD
Guitar, Friday January 26

Guitarist Will Bernard has played and recorded on an international level since 1989. Since then, Bernard has participated in a host of boundary stretching groups, ranging from jazz, hip-hop and world music to experimental music, with many stops in between.

Bernard broke out as a bandleader in 1998 with the release of “Medicine Hat” (Antilles/Polygram), showcasing his expert chops and flair for funky, bottom-heavy soul-jazz. He then followed up with two self produced albums (“Motherbug” and “Directions To My House”), before making two albums on Palmetto Records (“Party Hats” and “Blue Plate Special”). “Party Hats” garnered a nominated for a Grammy Award in 2008 for best contemporary jazz album.The all-star “Blue Plate Special” includes performances by Stanton Moore, Andy Hess and John Medeski. In 2011, Bernard released an organ trio record titled “Outdoor Living” to positive reviews with his own genre-bending style.

Bernard’s last two albums are on Posi-tone records “Just Like Downtown” (Posi-Tone 2013) which features John Ellis on tenor sax and bass clarinet, Brian Charette on organ, and Rudy Royston on drums and “Out and About” (2016). which features Ben Allison, Allison Miller, Brian Charette and John Ellis. These recordings demonstrates Bernard’s roots in straight-ahead jazz and more traditional styles as well as funk and free wheeling improv.
