One of the most highly anticipated comedy tours of 2010 is coming to Newark Symphony Hall on May 8th! The Royal Comedy Tour features Queen Bee of the comic business Sommore, along with J. Anthony Brown, Don “D.C.” Curry, and George Willborn.

No holds barred humor, cutting edge comedy, “what you say” wit, freak you out funniness and raw revelry is what you can expect on this night of laughter. The Royal Comedy Tour comes to Newark Symphony Hall on May 8th. With raw, unapologetic, hard hitting, hilarious comedy sketches broaching everything from Tiger to The Gosselins and the Octomom to Obama, nothing will be off limits as these comedians light up the stage and even people in the audience with their rowdy routines for The Royal Comedy Tour. If it makes news, they will mock it, if it hits the headlines they will hammer it, if it fires people up, they will make fun of it and if TMZ tackles it, they will take it apart bit by bit. The Royal Comedy Tour will be the “can’t miss” comedy tour of the year.

Sommore
This trendsetting, highly-acclaimed veteran entertainer is widely considered one of America’s top comedic female entertainers. With a winning combination of class and sass, Sommore offers audiences a hilarious, yet piercing look at today’s issues from a woman’s perspective. She is frank and fearless in her routines, tackling topics that range from the mundane to the controversial with wit, intelligence and style. Praised by critics, respected by her peers, and adored by a diverse fan base, she performs her stand-up act to sold-out audiences across the country, and she is among the top-grossing stand-up comediennes. Oprah proclaimed her a “force to be reckoned with in the new millennium.” The New Jersey-native has had a meteoric rise to the top of her field and has been a trailblazer for women in the comedy business. She is the recipient of the Richard Pryor Award for Comic of the Year and became the first woman to host BET’s Comic View. She would also go on to host Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam, as well as Showtime at the Apollo. As part of the record-breaking “Queens of Comedy” tour in 2000, she garnered a wider fan base and was registered in Guinness’ Book of World Records when she performed to a captivated audience of nearly 50,000 people in Atlanta, Georgia. The 2001 made-for-television movie based on that tour was the highest-rated and longest running special in the history of the Showtime Network.

In addition to her stand-up performances, Sommore has also appeared in several films including Friday After Next with Ice Cube, Family Reunion, Soul Plane, Something New and Dirty Laundry and has appeared as a featured guest on television shows including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, ABC’s The View, Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher and CNN Headline News, and was profiled on Comedy Central’s “Special Women in Comedy” program. Sommore also participated in season six of VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club and was cast as the cornerstone for the “mob” with Bob Saget for the NBC primetime show 1 vs 100, appeared as the special guest star on MTV’s Nick Cannon’s Wild N’ Out, and hosted Live at Gotham for Comedy Central. Most recently she released her much anticipated DVD, The Queen Stands Alone, which originally aired to ground breaking numbers on Comedy Central. Written and produced by Sommore and One Thousand Kisses, Inc., The Queen Stands Alone is a film version of her stand-up act.

J. Anthony Brown
For those in the know, “WatchOutDehNow” is more than a heed to action, it’s the trademark catcall for funnyman J. Anthony Brown. As a staple on the nationally syndicated radio morning show, “The Tom Joyner Morning Show” for almost a decade now, the South Carolina native is one of the foremost voices that wake up millions of radio listeners in over 195 markets day to day.

An industry staple, Brown’s impressive list of credits have included performances on Comic View, Def Comedy Jam, Showtime at the Apollo and Evening at the Improv, writing credits on The Arsenio Hall Show, The Tom Joyner TV Show, Steve Harvey’s Big Time, Me and The Boys and The Parent ‘Hood. His movie and TV credits have included XXX: State of the Union with Ice Cube, Mr. 3000 with the late great comedian Bernie Mac, Drumline opposite Nick Cannon & How to Be a Player, alongside Bill Bellamy and hit TV shows like Eve, The Parkers, Livin’ Single, Martin, Moesha, The Hughleys, and even Oprah. Whether he is murdering the hits with his off key version of the latest song, or donning a pink pimp suit to evoke a laugh, Brown will get to your funny bone. His penchant for alligator shoes and rainbow colored suits convey his “party time” approach for fun.

Don “D.C.” Curry
After the being named “Comedian Of The Year” by BET and eventually hosting Comic View, film and TV roles started flooding in for Curry. His list of credits would grow to include a regular role on ABC’s, Grace Under Fire, performances on HBO’s critically
acclaimed The Chris Rock Show, the hit sitcom, Roseanne and The Steve Harvey Show. He would also gain critical acclaim and chatter as “Pastor Jones” on the NBC sitcom, The Tracey Morgan Show, as the outrageous “Uncle Elroy” in Next Friday, and the hilarious holiday three-quel Friday After Next. He would go on to film, Don “D.C.” Curry-Nervous Breakdown Live!, his own DVD/cable TV special and CD that he also co-produced and also star in his own cable special, Comedy Central presents D.C. CURRY which continues to air on the network to rave reviews.

George Willborn
Dubbed comedy’s “Stress Reliever,” George Wilborn became the host of the hugely popular All Jokes Aside, one of the nation’s largest comedy clubs in 1992 and would soon be on his way to critical acclaim after that. Audiences would then see him shine from his appearances on Def Comedy Jam, Comic View, Showtime at the Apollo and Comedy Central’s Comic Justice. But what many don’t know is he helped pen some of the jokes on the UPN series Mo’Nique as a writer. More recently Wilborn was making people laugh out loud when he won the first season of TV One’s hit show Who’s Got Jokes, hosted by Bill Bellamy. Today, he is the consciously comedic partner in crime for the popular nationally syndicated hit radio show “The Michael Baisden Show,” with best-selling author Michael Baisden. Wilborn is heard nationwide everyday by millions of people.
